Welcome to Act One Stage School, a performing arts school based at Marshalls Park Secondary School in Romford, Essex
Here at Act One Stage School we strive to combine serious education in Drama, Dance and Singing with fun and enjoyment for all pupils.
Act One Stage School was formed in the summer of 2010 by former Eastenders star Carly Hillman – a professional actress from Hornchurch, Essex. Having worked in the industry since 1997, most famously playing the role of Nicky Di Marco in the BBC’s flagship soap, Carly boasts an impressive stage and screen CV.
In early 2010 Carly decided to pass on all of her experience and expertise to local children and open her own stage school - Act One.
The school is open every Saturday during school term time from 10am - 2pm and consists of three main areas; Singing, Drama and Dance. The teachers at Act One are all qualified professionals - many of them having worked very recently on the professional circuit.
As well as our high standard of staff, we are also honoured to boast some of the best facilities around for an out-of-hours stage school. Marshalls Park Secondary School in Pettits Lane, Romford, is one of the two recognised Performing Arts Specialist Schools within Havering. The Drama rooms, Main Halls and brand new state-of-the-art Dance Studio make it the ideal location.
Our annual shows alternate between a Musical production and a Variety Show each year, meaning that every student gets their time in the limelight. All shows are performed at professional theatres in the Essex area.
All of our staff are professionally qualified in the industry and CRB checked.
