All staff at Act One Stage School are professional Equity members or have first hand experience of working professionally in the entertainment industry. Furthermore every member of staff is CRB checked.

All students attending Act One Stage School will receive membership cards which they must bring along with them to every session. A register will be taken every week and if any student is not in attendance or does not arrive on time without prior notice from their parents, a member of the Act One Stage School team will contact the parents or guardian by phone to confirm their absence/lateness. Unauthorised absentees will not be refunded their weekly fee.

Some of the older students may prefer to make their own way to and from the Stage School, in which case we will require prior written permission from the parents or guardians.

Each week a member of staff at Act One Stage School will ensure that:
  • All children have completed registration on their arrival
  • Contact the parents in the situations of an uninformed absence or late arrival
  • The teaching areas are only occupied by authorised teachers and Act One students
  • Record any illnesses or or accidents in the accident book
  • Inform the parents or guardians of any injuries or ilnness affecting their child
  • Escort younger children to the toilets
  • Ensure that all students are signed out unless we have prior written notice from their parent or guardian
Act One Stage School carries full public liability insurance and endeavours to ensure that the safest environment and practices are conducted every week.

Age Groups

Act One Stage School welcomes all students, girls and boys from the ages of 5-16 years old. Students are dividing into the following age groups:

5-9 years old
10-12 year old
13-16 years old

Each group will spend an hour in each class; Singing, Dance and Drama. The classes will be tailored for each age group so that the style and content of the classes suit the ages and ability of the students. Our teachers have vast experience of working with children of all ages in previous professional work and at other stage schools.

All in a day at Act One Stage School...

The typical day at Act One Stage School will commence with a 10 minute registration period and 20 minute warm up which will include all of the students together.

The students are then divided into their age group classes and rotate through their hour long lessons - Singing, Dance and Drama. Each lesson is taught by an Act One teacher with expertise in that particular field. The lessons take place in specialist rooms within Marshalls Park School and we are pleased to be able to offer a state of the art dance studio for the dance classes.

Students will rotate between lessons and after the first two hours of classes, there will be a 30 minute break where the students can buy refreshments and snacks.

Act One Stage School strives towards producing two performances each year, which parents, friends and family can purchase tickets for and support the school and students. Each show will allow students to perform in front of a live audience and demonstrate the skills and techniques that they have learned.

Parents are welcome to stay for the registration and sign-out periods where they can enjoy refreshments with other parents or discuss any topics with our Act One staff.
